What can we do better?
We are far from perfect. There are a few things we wish we were better at, among which:
- Proactively helping people: there are plenty of opportunities to learn from our projects and each other, but our organization isn't (yet) structured to identify all unmet needs proactively. That is why we set up regular check-ins (Weekly Check-ins) and expect you to speak up when you need something.
- Making predictions longer than a few months out. Planning is guessing. Unforeseen things happen. We hope it will be more feasible over time.
- We miss out on hiring talented people who prefer to work within a larger, "safer" structure. We are profitable and are very careful with our finances, so don't lose your sleep; it is not like we are going bust anytime soon. But we understand that we might still look like a "risky" start-up to outside candidates when compared to more established consultancies, so it is worth recognizing as a self-imposed limitation. Remember: you are here to help us change that.
What if this book doesn't work?
Sometimes, the philosophy and methods outlined in this book don't match perfectly with how things are going day to day. But we are confident that even when problems persist for a while, Agilytic roots them out.
As you see it, are there areas where the vision in this book is realized more fully than others? What should we do about that? Are those differences a good thing? What would you change? This book describes our goals. If you find yourself in a group or project that you feel isn't meeting these goals, be an agent of change. Help bring the group around.
Talk about these goals with colleagues or even people you trust outside the organization.
Where Will You Take Us?
Agilytic will be a different company a few years from now because you will change it for the better. We can't wait to see where you take us. The services, projects, and experiences that you decide to create for customers are the things that will define us.
Whether it is a major new project you win, an innovative technology we will embrace, a way to save money, or (more likely) something nobody's thought of yet — we can't wait to see what kind of future you choose to build at Agilytic.
