Overall Interview Process & What to Expect

Note that all interviews will be conducted virtually over Zoom until we're able to return safely to the office.

👋 Initial Interview (30-45min)

We want to get to know you and your experience, what you're looking for in your next role, and to tell you about what we're working on at Notion now and in the future. We want to make sure there's mutually a good fit.

📆 Technical Assessment (45min)

You'll partner with one of our Talent Coordinators for a live scheduling session. Over Zoom, you'll be given a mock coordination request, interview panel availability, and work through a few different coordination scenarios.

Using Notion or a text editor of your choice, please come prepared with a virtual onsite confirmation for a software engineering candidate interviewing with Notion. Your confirmation should cover what a candidate would need to know leading up to a virtual onsite interview minus the schedule, which you'll craft live with a Notion Talent Coordinator. We'd love for you to link our Guide to Engineering Interviews and blog, Tools & Craft. 

🏠 Virtual Onsite (2 hours)

You'll have 4 interviews (around 30-45 mins each) and meet with some of our Talent Team. We sometimes break these up into two sets of interviews.

💚 Candidate Experience & Communication

We want to get a better sense of how you communicate and how you think about the candidate experience.

🗄️ Organization and Prioritization

We want to understand how you organize and prioritize your work.

🌈 Teamwork & Collaboration

We want to see how you communicate and evaluate your interpersonal skills. We want to see how you drive towards an articulated vision.

🛣️ Problem Solving and Operating within the Gray

We are a start-up and we want to understand how you prioritize and make decisions with limited resources.

💖 Final Interview(s) with C-Suite (30 min)

You will have the opportunity to meet with someone on our executive team as the final step of our process. Please come prepared to have a discussion around our mission and values, as well as your interest in Notion and this opportunity. They will want to understand your goals, interests, and motivations.

✒️  Lastly

As a final step in the process, we will also conduct reference checks. All offers are contingent on a background check, which includes employment verification.
