Overall Interview Process & What to Expect
đź‘‹ Initial Interview
You’ll have a 30 min exploratory chat with our recruiting team, where we’ll get to know you, your experience and what you're looking for in your next role. We’ll tell you about what we're working on at Notion, and why we’re hiring for this role. We believe this conversation will help you assess if there's a mutual fit between where we are in our company’s journey, and where you are in your career journey.
📝 Technical Interview via Zoom
You’ll spend 45 min with our Product team, showing off your product sense, storytelling and prioritization skills. You’ll do this by walking through a scenario where you lead product for a great product — and explain some of the most important decisions you’d make in that role.
🏡 Written Exercise via Zoom
You’ll spend 90 minutes with our Product team, doing one of the most important things that PMs at Notion do: Write! We’ll give you a quick prompt and then let you loose, allowing you to spec out a hypothetical feature — thinking through everything from the problem to the launch plan.
🤝 Virtual Onsite Interviews
You’ll have three, 45 minute conversations with folks across functions that you’d likely partner with in your role. The conversations will focus on being a strong collaborator and communicator, as follows:
- Deep dive into a previous project (or two) with a member of our Data or Engineering team, where you’ll teach us a bit about the what, why and how of your work.
- Brainstorm a new product with a member of our Design or PMM team, where you’ll help us design a new product, starting with exploring possibilities and settling on a specific solution together.
- Show us how you like to run projects, by walking a member of our Product or BizOps team through your execution approach to a hypothetical problem. You’ll give us a sense of how you structure work, keep others in the loop and drive decision making in a short period of time.
đź’–Â Meet Our Leadership
You will have the opportunity to meet with someone on our executive team as the final step of our process. Please come prepared to have a discussion around our mission and values, as well as your interest in Notion and this opportunity. They will want to understand your goals, interests, and motivations.
✒️ References and Background Check
As a final step in the process, we’ll reach out to a set of references (that you’ll provide) to to understand what it’s like to be your colleague. Please note that all offers are contingent on a background check, which includes employment verification.
We want everyone who interviews with us to feel set up for success. Please reach out if you have questions!
