Overall Interview Process & What to Expect
👋 Initial Interview
An interview with a member of our Talent team to get to know you. We want to learn about the highlights of your experience and what you're looking for in your next role, and to tell you about what we're working on at Notion now and in the future.
Take-Home Exercise or Project Review
We will ask you to complete our take-home product design exercise to see how you approach an open-ended problem and make trade-offs.
🏠 Virtual Onsite Interviews
System Design Interview
This interview will focus on how you think about building a product from an engineer's perspective. How would you build something in a certain way? What are the benefits and trade-offs? What are some things you feel are necessary for success? How would you lead a team through a project's lifecycle? You'll have opportunities to branch off into design, marketing and team building. No whiteboard or coding environment needed. If there's a preferred tool to articulate your thinking feel free to bring it!
This interview will focus on how you think about collaborating with product, design, and the larger engineering org. What are you preferred methods of collaboration? How do you intend to plan and prioritize work? We want to hear about your past experiences and how those learnings will translate into growing an effective marketing engineering team at Notion.
Hiring Manager Interview
In this interview, we'll deep-dive into the jobs you've had. Our goal is to understand things you owned and shipped, what your team structure looked like, and areas you think you could add value to Notion.
💖 Final Interview(s) with C-Suite
You will have the opportunity to meet with a couple of members of our executive team as the final step of our process.
Olivia will chat with you about how you make difficult tradeoffs and problem solve on the fly.
You'll get an opportunity to chat with our Founder & CEO, Ivan. Please come prepared to discuss Notion's values and mission. He will also know why you are excited about Notion and this role.
As a final step in the process, we will also conduct reference checks. All offers are contingent on a background check, which includes employment verification.
